A dedicated, kind-hearted avid vegan and environmentalist, Ophelia has done with vegan activism with Animal Allies before starting her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies at NUS. In school, she led the food distribution joint project with Mummy Yummy. Outside of this, you can find her farming and cooking up plant-based dishes for everyone at Ground-Up Initiative (GUI). She is now conducting research on mangroves as coastal protection.

What’s your favourite animal/plant?
Whales! They’re majestic and roam the oceans!
What is one area of the environment that you are passionate about and how did you come about this interest?
It started with beach clean-ups! Seeing the amount of plastic waste on our shores when I was 15, I felt a call to action since.

The environmental crisis is huge and can be overwhelming at times… What is something that keeps you motivated to keep doing what you do?
To turn off from the pressure sometimes and thank yourself!
